Fire Hose Reel Cabinets
Fire hose reels provide a permanent, high-capacity, mains-connected water supply for fighting fires in buildings, delivering a continuous flow of water that far exceeds the capacity of any portable extinguisher. Unlike an extinguisher, which is exhausted within seconds to minutes, a hose reel connected to the mains supply provides an effectively unlimited water source for as long as the supply is maintained — making it the appropriate fixed fire-fighting installation for buildings where a serious fire outbreak must be capable of being held or suppressed by trained on-site personnel.
Safegear's fire hose reels are certified to EN 671-1 (non-percolating hose reels) and EN 671-2 (flat hose systems) and are suitable for offices, warehouses, factories, shopping centres, hospitals, hotels, schools, and public buildings. Swinging arm configurations allow the hose to be extended in any direction from the reel cabinet, maximising the area of the building that can be reached from a single installation point. Fixed arm models are available where space constraints require a more compact installation profile. Hose lengths of 19 m to 30 m are available to suit different building layouts and travel distances to the furthest risk point.
Fire hose reels must be installed, commissioned, and regularly inspected and maintained by a competent person in accordance with EN 671-3, which specifies the routine maintenance requirements for hose reel systems. Annual inspection as a minimum is a legal requirement in most jurisdictions. Safegear provides supply, installation, and maintenance services for fire hose reel systems across Europe and North America.
