What do I need to install my safe?

Safes · Buying guides· Reviewed by SafeGear advisors

If the safe is prepared for installation, it will include pre-drilled holes, therefore you can install the safe yourself.

For this you'll need a drill and a matching drill bit (usually 10–12 mm in diameter).

Depending on the surface and fixing method, you'll either secure the safe with an expansion bolt (mechanical anchor) or bond an anchor in place using a two‑component (chemical) adhesive.

Please keep in mind that the length of the bolt is usually 15-20cm, so you need to know the thickness of the floor or wall material. You should also consider if there is any wiring or piping in the installation location.

If there are any wiring or piping systems in the installation location, we would recommend you to bolt the safe to the wall instead.
